We believe that changing the way we produce and distribute food is fundamental to solving the world’s most pressing social and ecological problems.
Good Small Farms runs Hammonds Farm between Stroud and Gloucester. We aim to develop the 100 acres into a regenerative mixed farm that builds back wildlife and provides jobs while showing that growing food for sale locally can be profitable.
We started the market garden, run by Rosie, in January this year. We also have a (very) small herd of Hereford cattle and are starting to develop some nut and fruit orchards.
We pay our suppliers at least 50% of the retail value for any products we buy in, and when dealing with wholesalers, we check to make sure they pay fair prices to their growers.
Local food supports local economies. Food grown in the local community supports local jobs and encourages variety in our diets. It also requires less transportation, so it's fresher and has a smaller environmental footprint.
The most amazingly tasty mix of seasonal salad leaves picked that morning are simply second to none. Quality produce grown with care and attention, just wonderful!
